Officially belonging to France, this pristine and paradise-like region - comfortably cradled between the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean sea - breaths, speaks and feels Catalan. You can read it on any official street sign that keen local hands have "transformed" to make sure that everyone - even an innocent tourist like me - gets the message that this a veritable country of its own right - together with the officially Spanish neighbors next door in Catalunya, of course.
And it truly is. Even after many years of travels to many corners of France, I learned to cherish the specific and incomparable flavor, taste, smell, air, touch and charm of the "Pays Catalan". Join me a bit on my visual trip, if you feel like having a small dosage, too.
